Your Movies & TV viewing history will soon appear in Windows Timeline

Microsoft Movies & TV is joining the small list of apps that integrate with the new Timeline feature on Windows 10. In the latest version of the app (10.18081.1041.0) for Windows Insiders, you’ll see that your Movies & TV viewing history will show up in Windows Timeline (viaMSPoweruser). For now, it seems that Timeline can only recognise content purchased from the Microsoft Store, and not personal videos watched with Movies & TV app.

The app has also started to promote the new integration with Disney’s Movies Anywhere service, and you’ll see in Settings a new link to connect your Movies Anywhere account and bringing over your movie collection.

The new Timeline integration is nice, but it doesn’t immediately let you pick up where you left off. Clicking on a video in the list will open the information page for the movie and TV show and you’ll have to click on “Resume” to continue watching. Still, this is better than nothing for now and it helps Movies & TV stand out among all the stock UWP apps from Microsoft. Again, this Timeline integration requires a new version of the app that is only available for Insiders right now, but it should become generally available pretty soon.
