TheSnap feature on the Xbox Onehas always been a great way to multitask and expand the way you use the Microsoft gaming console, as it allows you to open apps side by side.  Unfortunately, a recent tweet from the head of Xbox Mike Ybarra has revealed that the much beloved Snap Modewill be replacedin the Creators Update. While the news is sad, there is more to the story, and some need to discuss what may be expected as a true replacement to the feature down the road.

We replaced Snap to improve multitasking, reduce memory use, improve overall speed, and free up resources going forward for bigger things.

According to Mike’s Tweet, Snapwas replacedbecause it improves multi-tasking reduces memory use and helps the overall speed in the Xbox experience. This would make sense,as earlier this weekit was revealed that the new Creators Update on Xbox is all about a boost in performance, and improved multitasking. But what is more interesting, however, is that Mike made mention that “bigger things” going forward.

Those words in mind, some on NeoGafhave pointed out, that the word “replacing” is entirely different from “removing” So, given these words,  and “bigger things” one could assume that Microsoft may be considering an alternate to Snap mode in the future. In fact, given that Universal apps don’t have access to the feature, andour report from two months ago, Microsoft may as well bereplacingsnap for a Picture-in-Picture mode.

What do you think will end up replacing Snap Mode? let us know your thoughts in the comments below!
