Along with the Nintendo Switch and the iPhone X, Microsoft’s Xbox One X was probably one of the most anticipated tech products to launch this year. So far, it seems that the new console will do very well during the holiday season, and we reported earlier this morning that itsold 80,000 units in the UK during its first week sales, matching Nintendo Switch performance in the country in March of this year.

Xbox Marketing chief Aaron Greenberg has since echoed these promising sales in the UK, highlighting “great initial results” across Europe and an “amazing first week” in North America:

Huge thanks to everyone for their support of@XboxOne X. Great initial results not just in UK, but seeing similar results across Europe. NA#smuch bigger, amazing first week!https://t.co/UOStTyLqhY

If we’d love to have more hard data about Xbox One X sales, it’s been a couple of years since Microsoft stopped sharing how many consoles it sells every quarter. Instead, the company prefers to focus on Xbox Live engagement, which makes sense as consumers who purchase and play a lot of games are much more valuable for Microsoft.

Still, we’ll continue to pay attention to what Xbox execs says about Xbox One X performance during the holiday season. As Microsoft announced earlier today, there won’t be any Black Friday Deals on the new console (which is completely understandable), though theolder Xbox One S will reach its lowest price ever at $189. You can expect the company to push the S as the low-cost holiday alternative, but don’t be mistaken, the Xbox One X and the Nintendo Switch should remain under the spotlight over the coming weeks.
