Windows Server version 1803, the next release in Microsoft’s Semi-Annual Channel, will be generally available for Software Assurance customers on May 7, the company announced late last week. This comes just after the release of thepreview build 17650for the server OS last week.

New releases in the Semi-Annual Channel usually focus Containerized applications, container hosts, and application scenarios benefiting from faster innovation, and Windows Server version 1803 will introduce a couple of new features including Curl.exe, Tar.exe, and SSH support, Container networking enhancements, and more. You can get more details about the new features in the in the Insiders space in theWindows Server Tech Community.

You can try Windows Server version 1803 right now through theWindows Insider Program, or wait for the bits to be available on the VLSC portal on May 7. If you’re more interested in new Hyper-converged infrastructure (HCI) and Software-Defined Datacenter (SDDC) features, you’ll have to wait for Windows Server 2019, the next release in the Long-Term Servicing channel to be released in the second half of calendar year 2018. This version is also available for testing through the Insider Program.
