Although Microsoft regularly releases Windows 10 builds for both PC and Mobile, some differences remain between both versions of the operating system. For instance,Blue Lightreduction came to Windows 10 for PC more than a month ago while Windows 10 Mobile has yet to receive the promised Night Light and Continuum improvements, bug fixes, and visual redesign. Insiders, however, may soon see some of these features according to Windows Insider head Dona Sarkar.
Sarkar said in an interview that Night Light and the Continuum functionality for Windows 10 Mobile is still in progress, though she fell short of providing a specific date for the update’s release. Sarkar said:
We do know that these features are very important, so we want to unveil them at the right time for the audience. For us, it’s all about the quality. We don’t want to add features when we don’t love the quality of the build yet, so we’d rather focus on building up quality than figuring out when to roll features.
In other words, the company is working to get everything right before bringing the blue light filter to Windows 10 Mobile users. Sarkar went on to the reveal that some features are already on track, though they are not ready yet for mass rollout. At the moment, the focus is on the quality. Sarkar explained:
They’re not in the builds yet. We’re still trying to figure out when is the right time for them to be in the builds.
One of the popular apps that pioneered blue light filters on mobile wasf.lux, though it is only available to Windows PC users.LightBulbis another program that works to modify the color temperature of your screen according to the time of day in your location.
It is likely that theNight Lightand Continuum improvements are not coming with the Windows 10 Creators Update in April because the OS is now feature-locked. That means we will need to wait beyond the upcoming fall for the feature’s release to mobile devices.
If you are on Windows 10 Mobile, are you eager to see the improved Night Light and Continuum features? Let us know!
