Windows 1020H1 allows users to limit thebandwidthconsumed during theWindows Updateprocess. However, these controls are not enabled by default and users need to manually enable this newWindows Updatefeature. Microsoft explains that:
By default, we’re dynamically optimizing the amount ofbandwidthyour device uses to both download and upload Windows and app updates, and other Microsoft products. But you can set a specific limit if you’re worried about data usage.
Windows 1019H2 is scheduled for release in the next few months.
What does this mean for users?
Your entirebandwidthwill not be consumed forWindows updatesonce you adjust these advancedbandwidthsettings.
The feature allows you to set a specific percentage of yourbandwidththatWindows Updatecan use. The feature can be a lifesaver for users who are usingslow internet connections.
ManyWindows 10users often complain about slow speeds while updating theirWindows 10PCs on Wi-Fi. ManyWindows 10users are eagerly waiting for this feature to hit the general public. As one Twitter user said:
