It seems that the annoyingboot up issues on AMD computersare here to stay. Microsoft recently pushed three new Windows 10 updates (KB4073291, KB4075199, KB4075200) aimed at providing additional protection against the Meltdown and Spectre CPU vulnerabilities and addressing the issue where AMD computers fail to start.

Windows 10 v1709 KB4073291

This update provides additional protection for 32-Bit (x86) version of Windows 10 Fall Creators Update after you installKB4056892(OS Build 16299.192). Speaking of this update, keep in mind that you may want totemporarily block it. Many users reported thatKB4056892 causes a bevy of issues, ranging from install errors to  PC crashes.

Of course, not installing this patch means exposing your machine to threats. So, choose wisely.

KB4073291 issues

Microsoft listed three known issues onKB4073291’s support page, once of them being quite severe. The update may sometimes cause Windows Update History to report thatKB4054517failed to install due to error 0x80070643. However, despite the fact that Windows Update incorrectly reports that the update failed to install, KB4054517 successfully installs. You can navigate to Check for Updates to verify the installation and confirm that there are no additional patches available.

At the same time, due to compatibility issues with some antivirus versions, KB4073291 may sometimes cause stop errors or abrupt reboots. The best solution is to contact your antivirus vendor for guidance.

KB4075199 and KB4075200

UpdateKB4075199is available only for Windows 10 Enterprise and addresses the issue where some users on a small subset of older AMD processors get into an unbootable state.

As far asKB4075200is concerned, it fixes the issue where old AMD processors fail to boot up and also addresses the bug where certain system parts fail to log off correctly, which leads to unnecessary queries for user credentials.

Have you downloaded KB4073291, KB4075199 and KB4075200 on your computer? Did you encounter any other issues afterwards?
