TheWindows 10 Fall Creators Updatebrings an interesting feature that automatically detects media files. After a storage scan, the OS detects relevant media folders you might want to include in your collection, and suggests them to you when you add new media files.

In other words, Windows 10 makes suggestions regarding the folders where you should add your media files. In this manner, you can betterorganize your media content.

Photos, Groove Music and Movies & TV all have one thing in common: exploring your local content based on the folders you provide. We’ve heard your feedback that sometimes local media is missing as a result of folders not being included, so with this build we’re adding new logic to address this. After a storage scan, we will now detect relevant media folders you might want to include in your collection when looking at the files via UWP apps, and suggest them to you when you go to add new folders.

Insiders can already try this feature out. If you’re curious to see how this feature works, add a new folder with pictures, songs, or videos to your desktop, go to Storage Settings and hit the refresh button. This will trigger a scan and the next time you add a folder to your favorite UWP app, you’ll see a window pop-up, suggesting you where you should add the new media files.

If you want to check out the upcoming Windows 10 Fall Creators Update features, you can enroll in theWindows Insider Program. The only downside is that these early OS versions often come with bugs — after all, that’s the whole purpose of the Insiders Program.

All Creators Update users will have access to these new featuresin September, when Microsoft rolls out the Fall Creators Update OS.
