Windows 10 April 2018 Update could bring along some BSOD errors

Microsoft recently revealed that itdelayed the Windows 10 Spring Creators Updaterelease overBSOD errors. This was actually a very wise decision as it allowed Microsoft to avoid a huge public outcry if the BSOD issues had been discovered after launch.

Dona Sarkar explained in anofficial blog postthat a high BSOD occurrence on PC was the main culprit:

As Build 17133 progressed through the rings, we discovered some reliability issues we wanted to fix. In certain cases, these reliability issues could have led to a higher percentage of (BSOD) on PCs for example

Microsoft quickly rolled out ahotfix to Fast Ring Insidersto check if the OS is stable enough for public release. It is still unclear whether the Redmond giant will follow the usual path and push Windows 10 build 17134 to Slow Ring and Release Preview Insiders or will simply roll it out to the general public as soon as Fast Ring Insiders have give it the green light.

Dona Sarkar’s team are now under huge pressure to make Windows 10 version 1803 as stable as possible in the shortest amount of time. If Microsoft skips the usual build release path and pushes the new Windows 10 version to the general public without first testing it on all the Insider Rings, chances are that some BSOD errors might go unnoticed.

Of course,BSOD errorscan’t be completely avoided. Every single Windows OS version is affected by Blue Screen of Death issues and we’re sure Windows 10 version 1803 is no exception. The only question is how frequent will BSOD errors be on theWindows 10 April 2018 Update? Will users experience more BSOD issues compared to previous OS versions?

Of course, there’s no exact telling at this moment. However, taken into account the recent BSOD issues, maybe it’s best to skip upgrading to the latest Windows 10 version for a few days after release, especially if you use your computer for work. Should the OS be affected by severe technical issues, we’re sure Microsoft will fix them as soon as possible and you’ll be able to install a stable and reliable OS version.

Needless to say, BSOD errors are among the most common issue affecting Windows 10 shortly after launch. In a way, they’re inherent to Windows. However, taken the frequent BSOD error occurrence in the latest Windows 10 builds, it’s safer to wait for a few days before hitting the ‘Check for updates’ button.
