It’s been three months sinceFuriosa: A Mad Max Saga, one of 2024’s most anticipatednew movies, sped into theaters. A streaming release date, then, has been a long time coming – and, finally, we know when theMad Maxpre-sequel film will be available to stream on Max, aka one of the world’sbest streaming services(in the US, anyway). The date in question:Friday, August 16. Prepare to start your engines accordingly.
Unfortunately, at the time of this article’s latest update (August 9), viewers in the UK and Australia can still only rent and/or buy it on premium video-on-demand (VOD) services. Hopefully, we’ll get word of when we can ahem witnessFuriosaon British and Australian shores soon. In the meantime, you can read more about when we think George Miller’s new magnum opus will race onto a service in these countries later in this guide. You’ll also learn more about other key details, includingFuriosa’s official trailer and runtime. On your marks, get set, go!

As we mentioned in our introduction,Furiosa: A Mad Max Sagawill put pedal to the metal and make its official debut on Max on Friday, August 16. That means we were weren’t far off in our initial predictions – indeed, we expected one of August’snew Max moviesto be released on the super streamer on August 2 or 9.
How did we reach that conclusion? By looking at when other notable Warner Bros. Pictures films made the leap to Max after their theatrical launces. For instance,Barbiemade its Max debut nearly five months after its theatrical release, with the Margot Robbie-starring fantasy comedy-drama landing in theaters on July 21, 2023 but not arriving on Max until December 15.
Meanwhile,Aquaman 2made a splash on Max two months after its December 22 launch (February 27, to be precise).Wonkadidn’t take its sweet time doing likewise – the Timothee Chalamet-fronted family film landing on Max on March 8, almost three months after its big-screen release. Most recently, another Chalamet-starring movie inDune Part 2spiced things up on May 21, around 10 weeks after its critically-acclaimed theatrical run.
Anyway, we’ll finally be able to addFuriosa: A Mad Max Sagato ourbest Max movieslist very soon. Keep an eye out for it shortly, then.
Where can I stream Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga in the UK?
Furiosacan’t be streamed ‘for free’ at home yet in the UK. However, you can rent and/or buy it on Premium VOD platforms (for 48 hours, mind you) as of July 1.

As for where it’ll be viewable from a streaming platform you’re subscirbed to, we’d expect it to debut on Sky and Now TV, as this pair are home to various Warner Bros. movies and HBO TV shows, includingZack Snyder’s Justice LeagueandHouse of the Dragon. The likes ofAquaman 2,Wonka, andDune Part 2, though, are still only available to rent and/or buy via digital stores, so it’s possible thatFuriosa: A Mad Max Sagawill remain a PVOD exclusive for some time. Sure,Barbieis currently available to watch on Sky and Now TV but it’s the exception to the rule.
Once a UK streaming release date is confirmed, we’ll update this guide.
What streamer can I watch Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga on in Australia?
Again, no Australian streaming launch date has been announced for the fifth installment in theMad Maxmovie franchise. Like their British cousins, viewers down under will have to rent and/or buyFuriosavia online stores if they want to watch it in their own home.
There are examples of Warner Bros. movies making their way onto select streamers in Australia. For example,The Batman(available now on Foxtel) andJustice League(also Foxtel) are all streamable on the aforementioned platforms, soFuriosa: A Mad Max Sagamay follow suit. We’ll let you know if it does so.
What is the runtime for Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga?
Furiosa: A Mad Sagaruns for two hours and 28 minutes. That includes its end credits sequence, plus any potential mid- and post-credits scenes that it may contain.
Is it still worth watching, though? Yes, according to its near-universally positive reviews. OnRotten Tomatoes,Furiosacurrently holds a 90% critical rating and 89% audience score. It’s not as highly regarded asMad Max: Fury Road’s near-perfect 97% critical score, but it’s nonetheless an incredibly impressive showing for a pre-sequel film that arrives nearly a decade afterFury Road. In short: stream it as soon as you can.
