Apple Unleashed kicks off today, October 18, 2021, at 10 AM PDT (1 PM EDT). At the event, Apple is expected to announce a refreshed MacBook Pro running on an M1X chip. Our sister site iMore will cover everything during the event, including the unveiling of what will likely become thebest Mac in 2021.

It’s expected that Apple will show off a second-generation16-inch MacBook Proand a new 14-inch model. Both devices should run Apple’s new M1X chip that’s built on A14/M1 architecture. Experts don’t expect the new MacBook Pro to run on a chip based on the A15 architecture seen in theiPhone 13.
The new MacBook Pro is said to take design cues from the iPad Pro, including a flatter design. The laptop is also expected to ditch the Touch Bar. Its new design is expected to feature several ports, including an HDMI port, an SD card slot, and the return of MagSafe. The suspected port selection of the MacBook Pro is a big deal because the current generation MacBook Pro only features USB-C ports.
