The battle for productivity software supremacy is heating up as both Microsoft and Google converge on overlapping audiences.

For sometime now, small to medium sized business and start ups relied on the flexible pricing of Google’s G suite to power their offices and boost their employee productivity. Aiming for the smaller fish allowed Microsoft to keep entrenched larger businesses while simultaneously serving the needs of individual consumers who might be in education. The entire pool was a seemingly copesetic relationship for both Google and Microsoft.

However, there are rumblings as of last week that point to Microsoft coming up with a new “migration experience” for Google G suite customers.

ZDNet’s Mary Jo Foleyrecently wrote about an internal roadmapthat points to a Q2 release of a new Office 365 migration experience for former Google G suite customers.

“We’ve heard the feedback and we’re excited to announce the new G Suite migration experience which will allow you to directly migrate email, calendar and contacts from Google G Suite to Office 365! Our highly secure solution ensures your data is directly migrated to Office 365, with no resting points along the way. We’re also adding support for migrating mailbox in batches.”

As of now, it seems Google is drawing first blood with its own Exchange migration tool and has been for some time, however, based on this leak it seems Microsoft is aware that its own limited IMAP mailbox transfer solution is in need of some bolstering to regain lost productivity marketshare.

Microsoft has yet to confirm the leak and may never publically announce it, as it servers as more of a tool for its sales team and partner solutions.
