TheWindows 10 Fall Creators Updatealready enhanced Edge’s WebVR 1.1 API so that users can utilize WMR motion controllers forVRcontent with that browser. To follow that up, Microsoft also released new firmware updates to extend WMR support to both theSurface LaptopandSurface Pro.

The new firmware updates have been rolling out since October 18, 2017, consisting of a series of new drivers for theSurfaceLaptop andSurface Pro. The drivers include the new Marvell AVASTAR Bluetooth Radio Adapter, Intel(R) HD Graphics 620, Marvell AVASTAR Wireless network adapter and Intel(R) Display Audio, all of which are required for WMR functionality.

The new updates don’t just extend WMR support: they also extend the battery life for theSurface Pro, Pro 3 andSurface Book. The Intel(R) Precise Touch Device driver update enablesSurface Prousers to enhance laptop battery life by disabling touch, whileSurface Bookusers get a new Power Slider to improve battery life.
