After some testing with Xbox Insiders, the new Twitch appis now available to all Xbox One owners via a free update to the existing app.

This new official Twitch app loads significantly faster than the original one and features a smoother, more natural, UI that makes browsing channels faster and easier to do (see above image). Subscribed and popular channels are now listed horizontally and live previews of each channel autoplay as their thumbnails are highlighted.

Watching streams is also much faster now with broadcasts loading almost immediately after being clicked on from the main page.

While the new Twitch app looks and works better than the original, it hasn’t completely thrown away all aspects of the previous version and still supports its zero Gamerscore Xbox Achievements. This will come as a relief to those who hadn’t unlocked every Achievement and were worried that a new app might have done away with them.

The Xbox One Twitch app can be used to view livestreams and broadcast directly from an Xbox One console. WhileTwitchstill king in the streaming space, Microsoft’s Mixer has been sneaking up on it with a (slowly) growing userbase and a variety of new features for viewers and streamersincluding a new TV show that will be exclusive to the platform.
