What you need to know
Dell’s new XPS Desktop 8950 can pack a lot of power if you want it to. While the lower-end configs will let you grab the desktop at its starting price of $919 (round up to $920 if you count the 99 cents, and round up to a thousand if you factor in potential sales tax), those more affordable variants are going to fetch you GPUs like a GTX 1650 Super and tiny 256GB SSD.
To get the full XPS Desktop 8950 experience, you’re going to need to spend more, because this machine can come equipped with high-end options such as NVIDIA’s RTX 3090 or AMD’sRX 6900 XT, as well as other highlights like a 2TB SSD and a12th Generation Intel Core i9-12900K. And no matter how you go with the desktop, know that it’s absolutely loaded with ports and has room for liquid cooling options.
A hard release date for the new XPS desktop is yet to be announced, but expect it at some point in fall 2021, which is rapidly coming to a close as winter rears its frosty head. When the machine finally does go on sale, you’ll be able to grab it in two different color configurations: Night Sky or Platinum Silver.
TL; DR for Dell’s latest XPS product: Big case, distinct colors, high horsepower ceiling, equally high price ceiling.
Big boy
Featuring a big case but a subtle color palette, the XPS 8950 is great for gaming, content creation, and other tasks that require a rig with serious specs.
