The Matrix Awakens is an upcoming real-time tech demo “experience” designed using Unreal Engine 5. Exclusive toXbox Series X,Xbox Series SandPS5, this experience is now available for pre-download. You can check out the teaser video below, which features a realistic-looking digital Keanu Reeves:
Developed by members of the film production crew, including director Lana Wachowski, The Matrix Awakens is set to go live on Dec. 9, 2021 during theGame Awards 2021. Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss, who play Neo and Trinity in the Matrix films, are among the presenters at the Game Awards 2021. According to the store descriptions for The Matrix Awakens, both actors are also part of the tech demo. The fourth mainline film in the Matrix saga, The Matrix: Resurrections, is currently slated to be available in theaters and on HBO Max on Dec. 22, 2021.
Unreal Engine 5 isn’t widespread for game development yet, but there are a few games that are being developed right now using Epic Games’s latest engine. Some of these include the upcoming survival-shooter STALKER 2 andSenua’s Saga: Hellblade 2from Ninja Theory.
