The Asus NovaGO and HP Envy x2 are the first Windows 10 on ARM laptops

ASUS and HP have just announced the first PCs running Windows 10 on ARM today in Hawaii. Both companies were present at Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Technology summit, and Asus was the first company to unveil its always-connected PC powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor.

Asus’ first Windows 10 on ARM device is called the NovaGo, and it will deliver Gigabit LTE speeds thanks to its 4×4 MiMO antennas. Just like the freshly released Surface Pro with LTE, it will come with both an embedded SIM and a Nano SIM tray for popping in your own SIM card. Interestingly, the Asus NovaGo will run Windows 10 S, but customers will be able to upgrade for free to Windows 10 Pro through September 2018.

As for the specs, Asus promised up to 22 hours of video playback and over 30 days of battery life when on standby. The company also mentioned support for Windows Ink, Windows Hello and. Cortana. Two models will be available, a base with 4GB of RAM and 64GB storage for $599 USD, and a higher-end model with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage for $799. Unfortunately, Asus didn’t share a release date for the NovaGo today, but it should available in 7 markets at launch including the US, the UK, France, Germany and China.

HP also unveiled the Snapdragon 835-powered Envy x2 today, which will be a new edition of the existing model with an Intel processor. This detachable PC will also run Windows 10 S out of the box, offer “lightning-fast 4G LTE” and provide up to 20 hours battery life. We don’t have any more details about specs or pricing, but HP said that it was coming in Spring 2018.
