Some Office 2019 and Windows 10 Enterprise users to see price hikes in October, Microsoft confirms

Noted byZDNet’s Mary Jo Foley, Microsoft is planning on increasing the prices for some Office 2019 and Windows 10 Enterprise users come October 1st. The pricing changeswere initially mentioned in a blog post yesterdayand are coming because the company wants to “create more consistency and transparency across purchasing channels.”

According to Microsoft, the first of the pricing changes impact the commercial business on-premises versions of Office 2019. These prices will go up by 10% over the current rates, impacting the Office client, Enterprise CAL, Core CAL, and server products. As explained in the blog post:

Microsoft will be making a series of changes across our program and product portfolio to provide unique offers that support customer digital transformation, improve the buying and selling experience, and make it easier to do business with Microsoft. We continue to execute on our Modern Commerce strategy by introducing programmatic changes across our VL programs that relate specifically to offer pricing and discounting.

Microsoft is also making changes to Windows 10 Enterprise, raising prices to $83 per user in order to match the rates of Windows 10 Enterprise E3. In addition, Windows 10 Enterprise E3 per user offers will be re-named to as Windows 10 Enterprise E3. And finally, Microsoft will be renaming Windows 10 Enterprise E3 per Device as Windows 10 Enterprise. Other price changes mentioned by the company can be seen below.

These prices can be confusing for the non-technical type, so you can check out themodern commerce pagefor more information on any price changes. All price changes will take into effect in October of 2018, and impacted users will have a preview on the September 2018 price listing.
