Elden Ring is now available worldwide, bringing an open world experience for newcomers and veterans of past FromSoftware titles alike. Unfortunately, some PC players are running into an issue with Steam Cloud saves.

When prompted to choose between the latest Cloud data or local data, players are being sent back to a point a few hours before they last played. Bandai Namco has acknowledged the issue and is currently investigating the problem.

If you run into this issue while playing, Bandai Namco is recommending that players very carefully check the dates on both the cloud save and the local save when being asked to choose. The publisher also recommends that if possible, players should back up their local saves to another external source while this issue persists.

Elden Ring has seen critical acclaim so far outside of the reported issues, with our own review stating that “FromSoftware has poetically fashioned a gorgeously haunting universe that begs to be explored. It’s a quintessential action RPG and an obvious contender for game of the year.”
