Microsoft has started testing anew Quick Access Menu in its Skype Insider app. In the preview version 8.37.76.92 that is now available on all platforms, you can access this Quick Access Menu by clicking on your Avatar in the top left corner of the app.
The Quick Access menu replaces the much bigger pop up window that previously showed up when you clicked on your Avatar, though the core functionality isn’t that different. “With the Quick access menu, your profile, associated Microsoft Account, Skype number and Settings are just a click away. From the Quick access menu you can review your Skype credits & subscriptions as well as update your profile picture and mood message,” the Skype team explained.
After announcing thatthe “Away” status would be coming backto this new cross-platform Skype app, the team is apparently not done polishing the UI of the new client. This apparently doesn’t go very well with some users, as the first comments on the post announcing the new Quick Access Menu are pretty negative. “No new features should be worked on for Skype until you bring the laundry list of old features back or let us use Skype Classic again,” said one user.
