If you can’t send messages or initiate video calls on Skype, you’re not the only one. Many users have reported these issues in the last 24 hours.

Well it’s the third day I haven’t been able to send messages.. Skype status says there is a problem with desktop version… I tried iPhone.. android.. also reinstalled… also desktop… nothing working… Skype status says they believe it’s fixed.. just log out then in.. I reinstalled ànd logged in that doesn’t work… tried updating tried my old backup version of skype.. nothing working just calls.

UPDATE 1 (February 7):The messaging issues are no longer listed on Skype’s Support page. This means that Microsoft already deployed the fix mentioned below.

UPDATE 2 (February 10):Unfortunately, the issue persists. Microsoft updated the status of the Skype Service again, stating that:

We have discovered new related issues for the incident and are actively resolving those. Some users might be experiencing problems with instant messages (chat). There might be delays with sending or syncing messages.

Fix incoming

Microsoft has officially acknowledged the problem and is currently verifying the fix. This means that the hotfix should be available for the affected users in the coming hours.

Limited service of Instant messaging affecting Skype for Windows desktopSome users might be experiencing problems with instant messages (chat). There might be delays with sending or syncing messages. We believe to have fixed the causes for the incident and are verifying the fix.

If Skype is vital for you, then you should also know that logging out from Skype and login back in should fix this issue for most of users.

However, if you already did that and the problem persists, then the only thing that you can do is wait for Microsoft to roll out the fix.

The company has yet to issue any comments about the Skype issues affecting phones.

We’ll update this article as soon as new information is available.

So, did it fix the problem for you? Are you still experiencing messaging issues on Skype?
