This year has been pretty quiet on the Windows Mixed Reality front, but Samsung has just announced anew version of its premium HMD Odyssey headset. Called the HMD Odyssey+, the new Windows Mixed Reality headset comes with the same dual 3.5-inch AMOLED displays with a combined resolution of 2,880 x 1,600, but with Samsung’s new Anti-Screen Door Effect (Anti-SDE) Display innovation that makes pixels less visible to the eyes.
In addition to the improved lenses, the HMD Odyssey+ should be more comfortable to use thanks to a wider eye box, a new Inter-Pupillary Distance (IPD) wheel, and a breathable anti-fog material on the face padding. The premium AKG audio technology with spatial sound support is also still there in the new headset, which weighs only 1.3 pounds
The Samsung HMD Odyssey+ will be priced at $499 and start shipping in the U.S. on October 22. It’s already available to purchase onSamsung.com, and it should appear soon on the US Microsoft Store. For those of you outside of the US, the new Windows Mixed Reality headset will be available “soon” in other regions including Korea, China, Hong Kong and Brazil.
