Krakens are multi-tentacled beasts of yore, armed to the teeth (or, well, beak) with an arsenal of ship-destroying tentacles and other deadly features, depending on where you look. The Kraken moniker feels more appropriate than ever with Razer’s refreshed headset lineup, which enters its third iteration for 2021 and beyond.
The new Razer Kraken, Razer Kraken X, and Razer Kraken Pro bring the popular lineup into the modern era with Razer’s latest neodymium drivers, and an array of unique features that get increasingly impressive as you move further up the price points.
The two most expensive Kraken’s headline features are full-blown stereoscopic haptics. Razer’s headsets have unique motors that feed haptic vibrations into the soundscape, which you can adjust with new on-ear controls. Unlike console games which create vibrations on a scripted basis, the haptics in the Kraken headsets utilizes sound, reacting within 5ms to bass frequencies in the sound stage.
Beyond that, the Kraken lineup impresses with competitive price points, and improved designs. It wouldn’t be Razer without RGB, of course, and that’s on board too for good measure.
