The Xbox One will soon be receiving its first official wireless keyboard and mouse combo from the gaming-centric Razer hardware department.

You’d be forgiven if you thought that five years into the Xbox One’s lifecycle, the console would have had an official first-party wireless keyboard and mouse combo to tout, but Microsoft left it to the experts in gaming to produce a truly game focused experience.

Adding to the convoluted timeline is Razer’s most recent promotions of formal announcement of the mouse and keyboard happening January 8th, around the time of the Consumer Electronics Showcase.

Without details on specs, pricing or availability, all fans have to go on is the below video that highlights the development journey of Razer’s wireless keyboard and mouse.

There are a few details that can be parsed from the video that shines a light on the specific features that are coming with the mouse and keyboard that are Xbox oriented such as a dedicated Xbox button on the keyboard and slide-out mouse mat for lap gaming. Other spotted features include a color changing Chroma backlit powered keyboard that Xbox One developers were rumored to have access to in order to enhance gaming experiences.

While the wireless keyboard and mouse are welcomed additions to the Xbox One family of peripherals, the combo raises the question of how they’ll change the landscape of competitive gaming on the console as well as how Microsoft will position its next set of consoles alongside its Windows 10 gaming ambitions.
