What you need to know
One of the biggest Destiny 2 expansions yet,Destiny 2: The Witch Queen, is just around the corner. And to give players an idea of what kind of loot they can expect to earn once the DLC goes live on Feb. 22, Bungie has released a newweapons and gear trailerthat goes over each of the new Exotic weapons and armor pieces being added to the game.
The wackiest and most interesting weapon of the bunch is the Parasite, which looks to be a unique grenade launcher that fires explosive worms that deal more damage the longer they’re in flight. Other Exotic weapons include a “slug launcher” that can charge full auto micro-missiles called the Grand Overture, an SMG called the Osteo Striga that shoots swarms of poisonous Hive energy, and unique class-specific versions of the new Glaive weapon type. The Titan class' Edge of Action Glaive will have the ability to place small protective shields (similar to a Ward of Dawn) while Warlocks can use their Edge of Intent Glaive to place healing turrets. Hunters get access to the Edge of Concurrence Glaive, which fires tracking lightning bolts that can chain to nearby enemies.
In terms of Exotic armor pieces, there are several interesting ones coming. The Hoarfrost-Z Titan chest will allow Stasis Titans to replace their usual protective barrier with a wall of Stasis crystals, while the Osmiomancy Gloves will let Warlocks throw two Coldsnap Grenades that have improved tracking. Hunters are getting the Blight Ranger helmet, which is an Exotic that increases the damage dealt by projectiles reflected with the Whirlwind Guard Arcstrider super. Overall, it looks like The Witch Queen will have plenty of excellent loot for Guardians to chase, and I’m looking forward to getting my hands on it once the expansion arrives.
Destiny 2: The Witch Queen is slated to release on Feb. 22, 2022 across Xbox, PlayStation, PC, and Stadia, and it represents the start of a new era of Destiny 2 filled with plenty of content and brand new systems such as weapon crafting. The standard edition of the DLC costs $40, andDestiny 2: The Witch Queen preordersare live now.
Take back the Light
The upcoming Witch Queen expansion features the sinister Savathûn and her brood of Light-wielding Hive, which will undoubtedly prove to be the most challenging foes faced by Guardians yet. Players can expect tons of new loot, enemies, locations, and more.
