Firefox has finally released the version 54 of its browser and this was one of the most awaited update. The new update comes with major revisions under the hood and with this Mozilla Firefox is now faster, more crash resilient and yes it hogs lesser resources than before. Most of us might agree that Firefox hasn’t exactly been able to pull their socks when it comes to the browser. The new update employs multiple process technology that has actually been available on other browsers including Chrome, Safari, Edge from quite some time.

With the multiple processes in place, Mozilla Firefox is playing catch-up with Chrome and other browsers. The Firefox 54 is expected to handle the heavy websites in a much better way. Furthermore, it also ensures that a tab running a graphic-laden heavy website will not affect other tabs. In a nutshell, the browser will run better across all platforms including Windows, Mac and also mobile operating systems.

Firefox has named its project after the chemical process that is used to divide the water into its core elements. Nicknamed the ‘E10’ this is one of the largest code change to Firefox. Starting from the Version 54 Firefox will be using four separate processes to run web page content. The process makes better use of your computer hardware and allows Firefox to be faster and more efficient.

The update makes the browser run fast and crash less while making the entire web browsing experience seamless. Heavy pages like Facebook and others will also be rendered smoothly. According to the folks at Mozilla, it’s all about “striking the right balance between speed and memory usage.”

Well, Mozilla is backing up its claim with facts and actual tests that were carried out. In the graph below you can see how Firefox is consuming significantly less RAM as opposed to the other browsers. The improvements are part and parcel of the Project Quantum wherein Mozilla is aiming to make theFirefoxthe fastest and smoothest browser across all platforms.
