Microsoft appears to have big numbers when it comes to Windows 10 on ARM. As notedin an article on MSPoweruser, Microsoft and Qualcomm developed Windows 10 on ARM processors together and are getting insane battery life, if their claims are true.
At Computex Taipei this summer,Qualcomm discussed Windows 10 on ARM details, including the Snapdragon 835 powering the next generation of Windows 10 PCs.
Earlier this week, Qualcomm held a summit in Hong Kong and went further discussing Windows 10 on ARM PCs. Microsoft and Qualcomm are reporting “multi-day battery life” on the Windows 10 on ARM devices. If their claims are true, the prospect of leaving your charger at home might not be a big deal anymore. Apparently, the testers of these Windows 10 on ARM devices thought the battery indicators were broken because it takes so long for the batteries to deplete.
There are no timetables on what battery life the testers experienced on Windows 10 on ARM. However,Fudzilla reported thatWindows 10 on ARM can allow you to watch Netflix for 29 hours straight before you need to charge your device. Those battery life figures would only be if you had Wi-Fi enabled. If you had both LTE and Wi-Fi enabled, the battery life would be around 20 hours.
While we may not see anyWindows 10 on ARMdevices in time for the upcoming 2017 holiday season, HP, Lenovo, and Asus are expected to showcase Windows 10 PCs using Snapdragon 835 processors hopefully earlier than Computex 2018. If the Windows 10 on ARM battery life reports are indeed true, Microsoft may actually release the long-rumored “Surface Phone.”
