Apple’s crown might pass to Microsoft in the domain ofcheap tablets. The company came up with a better strategy to sell low-cost tablets.Recent newssays that Microsoft might be preparing to launch low-costSurfacetablets that may very well compete with Apple’s iPads. The tech giant might target the sub $500 market which we all know is currently dominated by Apple and its iPads.

Microsoft’s strategy seems more viable this time

This is not the first time that Redmond is trying to sell some cheaper Surface Tablets, as this happened a while ago with the company’s Surface RT. What is different this time is the fact that Microsoft might have come up with an enhanced strategy.

The brand new Surface Tablets will boast a 10-inch display andUSB-C connections. They will also be lighter than the other models from the Surface family of tablets with 20%, and they will even flaunt rounded edges just like iPads.

Microsoft’s plans regarding pricing and availability are to put a tag of about $400 on these devices which will become available by the end of this year.

Sales for the Surface devices might be boosted

The report that Microsoft is working on these low-cost tablets was first released by Bloomberg which also claimed that the new budget Surface computers would feature Intel CPUs and graphics and run the full version of Windows 10 Pro. We still don’t know if the S mode is enabled by default or not. Just like the iPads, it seems that Microsoft includedLTE connectivityin these cheaper models which the tech giant eventually brought to the full-size Surface Pro earlier this year.

These new and cheaper Surface Tablets might be able to raise the sales of the current lineup of Surface devices which hasn’t been doing great lately.
