We know thatMicrosofthas been working for quite a while at one of its latestprojects, the Andromeda device (Surface Phone/Journal). Morenews popped up, and it does nothing else but confirm the existence of this device. The company usually provides all kinds of code names to the devices that it’s working on. As you may know, the Xbox One x used to be called Project Scorpio for instance. Now, latest reports say thatAndromedais also called Project AND.

The AND in theProjectAND may be referring toAndromedaor something else, but we’ll have to wait some more before we find out exactly what the letters stand for. TheAndromedadevice is also called the Surface Phone, and it’s set to create a new category for mobile computing.Microsofthas always envisioned a portable PC with telephony implemented. Such a device could easily adapt to various situations.Microsoftseems to be working on making the PC more mobile.

Even if this company has such a huge market share in the PC category, the problem is that people work on their PCs in their offices or homes. They don’t carry their computers wherever they go. Considering thatmobile processorsare becoming more powerful,smartphonesare receiving more PC-like features as well.

This may be considered badnewsforMicrosoftbecause it might lead users away from their PCs. This is the moment when always-connected PCs step in. PCs with mobile connectivity can be naturally used anywhere. On the other hand, they’re still not pocketable devices such assmartphones. People believe thatMicrosoftis currently trying to solve the issue with its Andromeda or Surface Phone.

Andromeda is expected to be a foldable device

More people believe that theAndromedadevice or the Surface Phone will be foldable, in other words, pocketable. It will also be productive when it’s unfolded while, pocketable when folded. The device is also said to have telephony enabled, and this means that it could very well serve as a replacement forsmartphonesand tablets as well, this way, creating a brand new category.
