Beth Hamilton is principal of a new school in Bellevue, WA, opening this fall, that she hopes will revolutionize how children learn and improve education for the future.

Wilburton Elementary, opening in Fall 2018, will be a 80,000 square-foot, high tech facility that will also be a Microsoft Showcase School, according to a poston the Microsoft in Education blog. Microsoft Showcase Schools were created through another Microsoft partnership, this time with the Bellevue School District (BSD).

Microsoft and the BSD may have figured out a way to change the way that students learn. and Microsoft created a vision that will fundamentally change the way Wilburton Elementary students will learn. Here’s a look at the Wilburton Elementary education plan, the Microsoft Education Transformation Framework.

Hamilton believes that Wilburton Elementary is a step in the right direction for the education. and believes partnerships with corporations, including Microsoft, may help supply the educational tools needed to teach in the future.

“Give the kids the control. I want to provide an environment where everyone is a learner and we’re all collaborating together – educator, students and the community. And I want to bring back the love of learning and curiosity. I want the school to be a model, where we use technology and learning to disrupt the system so that students are engaged and excited to learn.”

Whether of not Hamilton is successful with her dream for Wilburton Elementary, we will have to wait to hear more about this Microsoft Showcase School sometime in the fall of 2018. Stay tuned.
