Yesterday Michigan Governor Rick Snyderannounced the grand openingof the American Center for Mobility (ACM.) The center is being called “pinnacle moment for the state in the mobility revolution” and is one of 10 federally designated proving grounds for developing and testing self-driving vehicles. Microsoft is playing a key part in the center and will provide the cloud and data services for new connected and automated vehicles center in Detroit.

The American Center for Mobility will also collaborate with Microsoft and will design a Data Managment and Analytics Platform solution to help collect, store, and analyze data from tests. Powered by Azure, the solution is expected to offer the necessary capabilities for developing and deploying new use cases, and accelerate the development of CAV technologies, apps and industry standards. In the words of Kevin Dallas, corporate vice president, artificial intelligence & intelligent cloud business development, Microsoft:

“Vehicles are quickly becoming datacenters on wheels, and the opportunity to use the vast amounts of information generated to fuel innovation is unprecedented…We’re proud ACM has selected Microsoft Azure as its exclusive cloud provider for its intelligent capabilities and the enterprise-grade security and compliance required to develop comprehensive solutions that help drive the future of mobility.”

AT&T, Visteon Corporation, Toyota, Ford, Hyundai America Technical Center Inc, Subaru of America, Inc, and Adient are just a few of the other companies which are supporting the ACM. The facility is located on a  500-acre site that once housed a World War II bomber plant, and includes a  2.5-mile highway loop, a 700-foot curved tunnel, two double overpasses, intersections and roundabouts.

Radu Tyrsina has been a Windows fan ever since he got his first PC, a Pentium III (a monster at that time).

For most of the kids of his age, the Internet was an amazing way to play and communicate with others, but he was deeply impressed by the flow of information and how easily you can find anything on the web.

Prior to founding Windows Report, this particular curiosity about digital content enabled him to grow a number of sites that helped hundreds of millions reach faster the answer they’re looking for.
