In Dublin, Ireland,Microsoftis adding 200 technical jobs at its One Microsoft Place campus.In a post on Microsoft News Centre Europe, 100 of those jobs are for engineering roles that work on Microsoft’s new and emerging technology, such asArtificial Intelligence(AI). This latest wave of hiring will bring the total number of Microsoft employees in Ireland to 2,200.
In addition, Microsoft is also recruiting 50 people to support the “continued growth of its 700-strong EMEA Digital Sales organisation with vacancies for Technology Solutions Specialists, Solutions Sales Specialists and Account Executives who will join the growing team of talented digital sellers.” Another 50 people An additional 50 people will be added to the “Data Centre, the Sales subsidiary and positions on the company’s graduate and intern programme.”
Minister for Culture, Heritage and the Gaeltacht, Josepha Madigan TD, said that this is great news for Ireland:
“Ireland has a strong pool of highly skilled workers, a first-class education system, a competitive and transparent taxation regime and a pro-enterprise environment. The Government is working hard to ensure we remain internationally competitive. In this regard, today’s announcement of 200 high skilled jobs is very welcome. It shows the progress we are making in our mission to make this country an innovative, digital economy and a global leader for the tech sector. I would like to congratulate and pay tribute to the existing staff and management at Microsoft Ireland who have allowed the company to go from strength to strength here over the last three decades.”
Cathriona Hallahan, Managing Director, Microsoft Ireland, adds that the jobs in Ireland will help the company further their growth throughout Europe:
“The broad-based expansion of Microsoft in Ireland reflects the dynamism, energy and continued transformation of our team in Dublin. The team here is working with businesses, governments, organisations and people across the globe to help make our vision a reality – helping them to do and achieve more. Our engineering team is at the centre of this work. With the expansion of our engineering team together with the additional roles in other divisions of the business including EMEA Digital Sales and Data Centre, our new operations in Dublin will play an increasingly important role within the company globally.”
Currently,Microsoft is awaiting the outcomeof EU antitrust regulators evaluating the Redmond company’s recent acquisition of GitHub. So, the timing of the announcement may appear questionable. However, there is little concern that Microsoft’s takeover of GitHub will fall through. Microsoft expects to continue adding jobs throughout the EU regardless.
