Microsoft recently delivered some sad news. The company plans to completely shut downOffice Live Meetingservice by December 31, 2017. Organizations that are still using Live Meeting should turn to other similar solutions.
Such solutions includeSkype for Businessand Skype Meeting Broadcast. Businesses that are still using the Live Meeting service are advised to migrate as soon as possible to alternative services such as the ones mentioned before.
Skype for Business/Skype Meeting Broadcast vs. Live Meeting
Skype for Business is a convenient solution, and it also provides a few advantages over the Live Meeting service including the following:
More advantages of Skype for Business over Live Meeting service
Skype for Business provides audience engagement features such as sentiment tracking and Yammer integration, unlike the LiveMeeting service.
Both services include a similar meeting structure that features IM and presence, two-way or one-wayVoIP audio, Audio Telephone Bridge integration and more. Skype Meeting Broadcast also includes hosted recordings, post-meeting reports, hide attendee roster and split workload.
Both Live Meeting and Skype for Business services include audience engagement features such as moderated Q&A, polling and surveys. The also feature similar content sharing possibilities via webcam video sharing,PowerPoint Presentation, desktop and app sharing, whiteboard sharing and file distribution and transfer.
Recording Exporter Tool
This is another option that you will have available to migrate to from Live Meetings. Microsoft released this new tool called Recording Exporter Tool that will help organizations manage all their Live Meeting recordings.
When you are using this tool, you will be able to download any or all of the existing meeting recordings that you had previously saved in the Live Meetings service.
