Microsoft hasannouncedthat Microsoft Projects will be getting an overhaul to the service with a new Home screen starting today, as well adding new features available soon. The Redmond tech giant says that the new Home screen will allow quick and easy creation of new projects, and that such projects are synchronized over the cloud to allow data to be accessed from anywhere and on any device the software currently supports.

For those unfamiliar, Microsoft Project is a project management service that allows project managers to create plans, assign tasks, and manage budgets and expenses. Asone of the first Office products, it’s older than both Excel and PowerPoint, although it’s only available as part of astandalone subscriptioninstead of part ofOffice 365.

The company is also adding a new project management service, which will support all project types as well as employee roles and skill levels. The new service will sport many capabilities, resource and financial management and expense tracking. Microsoft says the new service will be released early next year, and that all of Project’s desktop features will soon be supported in the new service.

Microsoft is also enabling an overview screen off all work performed by various team members with the new Roadmap service. From there, project managers will be able to create chronological views of multiple projects, each with dates and milestones. This new service will also be supported onAzureDevOps, and a future update of Project will include support forMicrosoft Plannerand other third-party applications. This new service is slated for closer to the middle of next year.

All three new services will be part of the Project Online Professional and Premium subscriptions,which start out at $30 per month per user.
