The Microsoft Launcher has gone a long way since its debut as the “Arrow Launcher” under the Microsoft Garage banner. The app is now a key part of Microsoft’s new mobile strategy, which aims to better integrate its various services on iOS and Android devices.
A little more than a month afterMicrosoft officially unveiled it, the new Microsoft Launcher now has 1 million active users according to Microsoft UX Designer Joshua Bradley. Even better, the launcher was the #1 trending app in the Google Play Store last week, though that’s no longer the case at the time of this writing.

According to the store listing on Google Play, the app launcher has been downloaded more than five million times and it currently has a 4.6 rating. The app can be a nice replacement for your default Android home screen, offering Bing wallpapers that refresh daily, a personalized feed to check the news, events, and contacts you want to see and plenty more customization options. More importantly, the Microsoft Launcher can link your Android phone to your Windows 10 PC, letting you instantly push photos or documents to the bigger screen.
One million active users doesn’t seem much compared to the 2 billion monthly active users on the Android platform, but it’s still impressive considering that Microsoft has just started to actively promote this app to Android users. The company is also iterating fast with frequent updates, and the app should soon become a must-have for the Microsoft fans moving to Android.
Do you already use the Microsoft Launcher on your Android phone? If you don’t, we invite you to give it a try with the download link below.
