Microsoft has today announced that it’s bringingClipchamp, its new video editing web app, to Microsoft 365 and integrating it with Office as a video editing solution. Microsoft says it’s looking to expand the capabilities of Office beyond the traditional documents, spreadsheets, and presentations it’s known for with video, as video is becoming a key part of many people’s workflows in the office or at school.
According to Microsoft, Clipchamp enables creators of all skill levels to create, edit, and share beautiful, professional-looking videos with ease. Clipchamp is best suited for short videos for things such as promoting side gigs, family videos, or perhaps a short video essay for school.
Video is the format that reflects reality. With it, we can see faces, hear voices, and really connect with what we’re watching. It’s the new go-to way to communicate, learn, sell, and keep records. And while creating videos used to be hard and time-consuming, now there are editing products that make it easy for anyone— products like Clipchamp.
Clipchamp offers timeline editing, in-app creation tools, creative editing extras, royalty-free stock, designer-made templates, and much more. It’s a web app, meaning you can try it free at clipchamp.com, but it’s also available as a Windows app which you candownload here.
Microsoft purchased Clipchamp backin Septemberand quickly began shipping it inWindows 11. From that announcement, Chris Pratley from the Office group at Microsoft heavily implied that Clipchamp would head to the Microsoft 365 subscription service.
As a web app that uses the full power of your PC, Clipchamp is a natural fit to extend the cloud-powered productivity experiences in Microsoft 365 for individuals, families, schools, and businesses. It’s also a great fit for Microsoft Windows, which is a platform for boundless creativity. Whether you are editing game clips, making a school project, putting together a memory of your kids, or assembling the next indie short, Clipchamp and Microsoft will help you express yourself through the emotional power of video. If you are already a Clipchamp user, it’s all going to get better with more options, more power, and the easy creation experience you love.
Today’s news confirms that speculation and Clipchamp should be a good fit for Microsoft Office.
