One of the most well documented (and often mocked) problems with Windows is the way in which the OS will install updates at the worst possible times. Well, Microsoft has heard the complaints and is now promising that your PC will soon no longer update when you’re working or leaving it five minutes to get some coffee.
A note on the improvement wasmentioned in a blog post todayfor Windows 10 Insider Preview Build 17723 and Build 18204. “We heard you, and to alleviate this pain, if you have an update pending we’ve updated our reboot logic to use a new system that is more adaptive and proactive,” explained Microsoft’s Dona Sarkar and Brandon LeBlanc.
They both went on to explain that Microsoft has now trained a predictive model which can accurately pick the right time to restart your device to update. The model can also check if your device is being used, or predict if you’ve just temporarily stepped away from your PC.
Microsoft doesn’t yet have anything specific on the exact accuracy of the model but did say that it was being used on internal devices. Sarkar and LeBlanc also say that they’ve seen “promising results upon rollout” and are able to update the model with the least possible turnaround time based on “insights from its performance.”
This is not the first time that Microsoft has made improvements or tweaks to the Windows Update service. The company previously worked to reduce the “offline time” when installing a featured Windows 10 Update. Anyway, since Microsoft is known as the company that empowers people, it is nice to see that they can finally empower Windows 10 to not disrupt workflows across the world

For most of the kids of his age, the Internet was an amazing way to play and communicate with others, but he was deeply impressed by the flow of information and how easily you can find anything on the web.
Prior to founding Windows Report, this particular curiosity about digital content enabled him to grow a number of sites that helped hundreds of millions reach faster the answer they’re looking for.
