Microsoft acquires Two Hat, a content moderation platform for filter messages, the companysharedon Friday. Two Hat is a company that uses AI for content moderation on a vast scale, filtering online messages and providing increased user protection. Microsoft and Two Hat have already worked together for years prior to this acquisition, integrating Two Hat’s protection across Xbox Live.

“I’ve witnessed the impact they’ve had within Xbox, and we are thrilled that this acquisition will further accelerate our first-party content moderation solutions across gaming, within a broad range of Microsoft consumer services, and to build greater opportunity for our third-party partners and Two Hat’s existing clients' use of these solutions,” says Dave McCarthy, corporate vice president of Xbox Product Services.

The price of this acquisition was not immediately disclosed. Microsoft is continuing to grow the reach of Xbox, aiming to reach more potential players than ever before throughXbox Cloud Gaming, meaning that more online scrutiny than ever before will be needed.
