Microsoft Garage is has released a new app for the company’s Xbox One games console. Called Your News, it is aimed to deliver a curated feed of news, allowing the passive viewing of news headlines, as well as to watch the news right from their console (viaWindows Central).

The app is powered by Microsoft’s MSN platform, which allows the app to deliver video content by MSN. The idea of the app is to allow users to discover news that matches their tastes and preferences while doing other activities, not necessarily sat infront of the console.

The team behind the Your News app gave the following description:

We helped to serve this by ensuring our users had the choice of which news they wanted to watch. They are provided with a list of news topics and sources personalized to their tastes, each of which provides a variety of news stories. If they’d like to watch passively, they can put the controller down and watch a continuous stream of stories. This is Your News, where users can watch news they are interested in, whenever they want.

For most of the kids of his age, the Internet was an amazing way to play and communicate with others, but he was deeply impressed by the flow of information and how easily you can find anything on the web.

Prior to founding Windows Report, this particular curiosity about digital content enabled him to grow a number of sites that helped hundreds of millions reach faster the answer they’re looking for.
