Microsoft India hasannounced the India winnersofImagine Cup 2017, after concluding the national finals held in New Delhi. More than 15,000 students registered from 1600 schools and colleges across the country this year.

Now in its 15th edition, Imagine Cup is the company’s premier technology program and competition providing opportunities for student technologists, developers, and aspiring entrepreneurs from all academic backgrounds to collaborate, develop a technology application, create a business plan, and gain a keen understanding of what is needed to bring a concept to market.

Over the past fourteen years, more than 1.7 million students from more than 120 countries have participated in the Imagine Cup. The competition begins with local, regional and online contests, followed by screening of best projects from each country and with winners from these legs participating in the global finals.

Amongst the 27 finalist teams, Content Holmes (BITS Pilani) team emerged as the winner with the vision of a one-click AI-based online parenting solution that helps to keep children secure from cyber-bullying. The team will now represent India at the upcoming worldwide finals in July in Seattle to compete among global teams for a USD 100,000 prize.

“Imagine Cup is all about innovation, transformation and what comes next. This year, we complete 15 years of Imagine Cup and we continue to cultivate a spirit of social and technological entrepreneurship, empowering students to use their creativity to address real societal problems through technology. Participants have shown remarkable effort and enthusiasm to develop cutting-edge technology solutions to help resolve some of the world’s issues and challenges. At Microsoft, we are committed to empowering student community and young developers build their skills to realize their true potential and transform their ideas into reality.”

– Narendra Bhandari, General Manager – Developer Experience and Evangelism, Microsoft India

Imagine Cup aims to transform skill development, nurture budding technologists and foster collaborative and innovative spirit and the global technology competition has seen several success stories emerging from the competition through the years.

For most of the kids of his age, the Internet was an amazing way to play and communicate with others, but he was deeply impressed by the flow of information and how easily you can find anything on the web.

Prior to founding Windows Report, this particular curiosity about digital content enabled him to grow a number of sites that helped hundreds of millions reach faster the answer they’re looking for.
