It was back in July whenLenovounveiled their very firstWindows 10running handset. Now, it is finally coming to themarketthis week.SoftBank 503LVisWindows a phonecarryingLenovo‘s logo on it and is expected to materialize in Japanese market starting November 11.

On November 2011, exactly 7 years ago, aLenovorepresentative revealed the company’s plans to launch aWindows phonein mid-2012. But the plans seemingly faded away, until February 2014 whenMicrosoftrevealed thatLenovowas one of the nine new investors inWindows Phones. Again, nothing seemed to happen, but considering the fate ofWindows PhonesLenovowas apparently walking in the opposite direction.

Lenovohad previously criticized Microsoft for having so little faith in their mobile platform that they abandoned it completely and have ceased the release of future devices running theirOS. In 2015, ALenovoexecutive came forward with a statement thatMicrosoft’sdeficient cross-platform software efforts are the reason forWindows phones‘ market deterioration. So, it hit everyone as a surprise sinceLenovocame forward with the idea for their very ownWindows 10phone.

The Softbank 503LV is designed specifically for business users and works best with enterprise environments. It is also good to notice that the visuals and the camera placement of the device are largely inspired fromMoly’s Windows phonesdesigned by the firmCoship. Coship is an independent manufacturing company that designs handsets for other companies that can be sold under their names. So, there lies a huge possibility thatLenovois not the genius behind the body and design of their new phone.

Diving a little more into the specs, the SoftBank 503LV is a mid-rangeWindows 10device that possesses a 5-inch LCD display and has a 720p screen. The specs are not quite extraordinary, but consideringLenovo‘s first go at a Windows handset, sticking to the basics seem like a smart move. Have a look at the full specs:

Considering Microsoft Continuum’s active participation, we think that the device may support a Type C connector, allowing users alittle more flexibility in terms of screen size.

Lenovois yet to reveal the pricing specifications of the device, but it is expected to be declared later this month when the new phone finally launches in themarket
