What you need to know
Lenovo’s desire to make modern hybrid work between office and home a lot easier has culminated in the announcement of two new ThinkVision monitors at CES 2022. The ThinkVision P27h-30 and the ThinkVision P27q-30 are both 27-inch IPS monitors with 2560x1440 (QHD) resolution, 16:9 aspect ratio, anti-glare finish, and 60Hz refresh rate.
Bezel is extremely thin around all four sides, giving the monitors a modern look while also making it easier to employ multiple displays in the same setup. Precision color, including 99% sRGB, 95% DCI-P3, and 99% BT.709 means you can use the monitors for design and editing work, and HDR10 support allows for wider content compatibility. These specs rival those of some of thebest monitorsout there, so it will be interesting to see how well they actually perform.
Ergonomics are excellent in both monitors, with tilt, swivel, lift, and pivot adjustments. The monitors can be VESA mounted if you’d like to free up space on your desk, plus a Kensington lock slot is available if you’re working in a public space.
The main feature separating these two monitors is that the P27h-30 has what is essentially a USB-C docking station built right in. When connected, it can deliver up to 100W of charging power back to the laptop, as well as Ethernet, USB-C (downstream), and four USB-A ports. The P27q-30 has instead four USB-A ports on top of the regular HDMI 2.0 and DisplayPort 1.4 video support. Both new ThinkVision monitors are expected July 2022, with the P27h-30 starting at $599 and the P27q-30 starting at $499.
Lenovo didn’t stop there, introducing a ThinkVision VoIP Modular Stack accessory. The Modular Stack is made up of the MC60 webcam and MS30 soundbar, both compatible with the new ThinkVision P-30 monitors via a USB port at the top of the display. The soundbar has dual 2W speakers, while the webcam offers FHD video, dual-array microphones, and a privacy shutter. The ThinkVision VoIP Modular Stack available June 22, sold separately. The soundbar costs $39 and the webcam costs $129.
