Lenovo today announced two new ThinkPad workstation models— the ThinkPad P1 and the ThinkPad P72. These latest additions to the family are built for the ultra-creative type and come with features like 4K IPS panels, powerful Intel Xeon processors, and more. The P1 starts at $1,949 and the P72 at $1799, withavailability coming up in August.Here’s what you need to know about these newest models.
First off, with the ThinkPad P1, Lenovo is aiming to bring big style and increased performance to its customers. The device is 35% smaller than in the past and packs a signature, black finish, glass touchpad and seamless keyboard, and premium packaging. On the inside, the ThinkPad P1 is powered by 8th Gen Intel Xeon and Core processors (including support for the Core i9 CPU) and ECC memory support with clock speed up to 4.6GHz. In addition to a 15-inch, 4K UHD touchscreen display it also packs powerful NVIDIA Quadro P1000 and P2000 professional graphics cards. Specs are listed below.
Additionally, with the ThinkPad P72, Lenovo built a device for those in important industries. The device packs a 17-inch chassis, 8th Gen Intel Xeon, and Core processors, and up to P5200 NVIDIA Quadro graphics. Users will also find support for up to 6TB of storage, 128GB of memory and 16GB of Intel Optane memory. Other specs are listed below.
All of the models announced today are Mil-Spec tested for 12 methods and 21 procedures. They also come with multiple ISV and Green Certifications and can work with optional accessories like the ThinkVision P32u Monitor, and the ThinkPad Thunderbolt Workstation Dock.
