The week’s update to the beta versions of the iOS and Android Xbox apps added two new features relating toXbox Onevideo game screenshots and video clips; the ability to share directly to social media from within the app and the ability to download media locally to an iOS or Android smart device.

Currently, clips can only be shared to the Xbox activity feed or sent as an Xbox Live message to other users and the ability to actually download clips with the app has never been a possibility even though it has frequently been one of the most-requested features.

The Xbox beta apps are used to test new features for bugs and glitches with a smaller audience before rolling them out to the general userbase with the regulariOSandAndroidXbox apps. With testing of these features having now begun, it’s likely they’ll come to the public apps sometime over the next few months.

The ability to download apps is already possible within the Windows 10 Xbox app. As is social sharing, though only to Twitter.
