A couple of weeks ago, Microsoft announced that 343 Industries wouldbring a little surprise for Halo fans during E3 2017, and the company finallyrevealedwhat it was about yesterday: “Awakening the Nightmare,” a full DLC expansion for the RTS game Halo Wars 2 will be released later this Fall on Xbox One and Windows 10. The additional content will bring new campaign missions where the Flood, the parasitic alien life form which appeared in previous Halo games will make its comeback.
In addition, Awakening the Nightmare will introduce exclusive multiplayer leaders, new maps as well as a new multiplayer mode called Terminus Fireflight. “In this tower-defense style firefight mode, you can build various types of walls, mini bases, and turrets to protect your Terminus from every enemy unit imaginable including new mini bosses,” explained the Xbox team.
This Fall, Halo Wars 2 will also be one of the select Xbox One games that will receive free updates totake full advantage of the power of Xbox One X. Let us know in the comments if you’re excited about these upcoming updates for the RTS game.
