What you need to know
TheHalo Infinite campaignis fantastic, but one of its biggest drawbacks right now is the lack of an option for co-op campaign. Playing Halo cooperatively with a friend, either locally or online, has been an option ever since Halo: Combat Evolved released in 2001. Its absence in Halo Infinite is painful to many, and while 343 Industries is working on adding the feature at some point in 2022, it’s disappointing that fans have to wait a long time for an official implementation.
Thankfully, fans have found a way that you can reliably glitch into local co-op campaign on Xbox systems, giving you a way to enjoy Halo Infinite’s campaign with a friend using splitscreen. To do this, you’ll need to make sure Halo Infinite is loaded while your console is offline. Then, connect a second controller, sign into an Xbox account, and load up a campaign save with your first controller. Once you’re in the game, hit the start button and then back out of it, and then hit start using the second controller. This will activate splitscreen and spawn in a second Master Chief that Player 2 can freely control.

There are some serious limitations to this unfinished version ofHalo Infinite co-op campaign— for example, Player 2 won’t have a HUD and will experience broken lighting, andHalo Infinite’s FOBsand story missions won’t work or progress normally. There’s also a chance that save files will be broken by the glitch, and unfortunately, there’s also no way to glitch into co-op campaign online or on the PC version of the game. Even with these caveats, though, it’s neat that it’s possible to play Halo Infinite co-op campaign before its official release next year.
The Halo Infinite campaign is available now for $60 on Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, Xbox One, and Windows PCs. It’s one of thebest Xbox shootersever made, so you should definitely pick it up and give it a shot.
A new Great Journey awaits
Halo Infinite’s campaign has a great story, incredible gameplay, and breathtaking presentation. It’s everything a Halo fan could want, and we can’t recommend it enough.
