In another of ourregular update articles, we are going to look atPatch TuesdayupdatesKB4471329andKB4471324. Microsoft released these two updates in tandem with KB4471332 which we have already covered in a different article. Let’s start with KB4471329.

KB4471329: Windows 10 version 1709 OS Build 16299.846

KB4471329: Windows 10 version 1709 OS Build 16299.846

Improvements and fixes

KB4471329 is pretty much the same as KB4471332. It fixes a problem with the Seek Bar in Windows Media Player when playing certain types of files. As I mentioned in the other article, as this issue did not affect normal playback, most people are probably not aware of it.

What are the known issues?

However, where KB4471329 differs from version 1809 is the known issue. Here it is:

After you install theAugust Preview of Quality RolluporSeptember 11, 2018 .NET Framework update, instantiation of SqlConnection can throw an exception. For more information about this issue, see the following article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:4470809SqlConnection instantiation exception on .NET 4.6 and later after August-September 2018 .NET Framework updates.

This is somewhat annoying for people who are suffering from the above known issue, as this issue has been around for quite awhile. Microsoft’s workaround that, “[it] is working on a resolution and will provide anupdatein an upcoming release” is an oft-repeated refrain that must be slightly irritating when the issue has been known for so long.

KB4471324: Windows 10 version 1803 OS Build 17134.471

KB4471324: Windows 10 version 1803 OS Build 17134.471

Improvements and fixes

KB4471324 has a great deal more improvements and fixes going on than either of the other two updates released onPatch Tuesday. I’m going to briefly quote Microsoft here. If you want the unabridged version, go to thesupport page.

As with the other two updates, Microsoft has also releasedsecurity updatesfor the following:

What are the known issues?

This update has the same known issue as KB4471329. However, it also has the following known issue, “After installing thisupdate, some users cannot pin a web link on the Start menu or the taskbar.” You won’t be surprised to hear that, “Microsoft is working on a resolution and will provide anupdatein an upcoming release.”

How to get your updates

As always, the best way to installupdatesis by going toSettings > Update and Security >Windows Update> Check forupdates. If you want to go down the stand-alone package route, you can go to the Microsoft Update Catalog website. ClickKB4471329orKB4471324relevant information.

If you want more details of either of these two updates, please go to the relevant support pages. This onefor KB4471329 andthis onefor KB4471324.

How are you getting on with these latestupdates? As always, feel free to share any problems (and solutions) you have had in the comments below.
