WhenForza Horizon 5landed in 2021, it was undoubtedly one of the best games of the year for Xbox and Windows PC, and continues to be one of the top open-world racing games you can play to this day. Playground Games and Xbox Game Studios haven’t let the game rest since launch, though, continually adding new content in the form of free updates, full-blown expansions, and optional DLC add-ons.
Here’s what you need to know about where you can buy Forza Horizon 5, what editions are available, and just how much DLC has been released for FH5 since its initial launch. Forza Horizon 5 is hands-down one of thebest Xbox racing gamesavailable, but its store page is now swimming in paid add-ons that not everyone will need in order to have a great time. Before we get into optional DLC add-ons and car packs, there are a few basic versions of Forza Horizon 5 that players can use to access this vibrant rendition of Mexico filled with cars and tracks. Do you prefer digital or physical? Do you want the best value bundle for FH5’s core DLC and expansions? Are you playing throughXbox Game Pass?
Whatever you decide, there’s one thing to keep in mind: Forza Horizon 5 fully supportsXbox Play Anywhere. That means you can buy any edition or DLC once from the Microsoft Store and own it across Xbox consoles and Windows PC, with cloud saves syncing all your progress and Achievements, and cross-platform multiplayer ensuring you can always play with your friends. The only platform not included here is Steam; Forza Horizon 5 on Steam still supports full cross-play with other platforms, but there’s no cross-save support with the Microsoft Store edition.

Forza Horizon 5 has to start somewhere, and it starts with the Standard Edition. This is just the base game with no added DLC or expansions, but you do still get full access to every (and there are a lot) free content update that Playground Games has since released for the game. That means the over 800 vehicles in theForza Horizon 5 car list, too.
This is the version of the game included in Xbox Game Pass, PC Game Pass, Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, andXbox Cloud Gaming. The retail price is$59.99 at Best Buy, but there are frequent sales.

Forza Horizon 5 Standard Edition gives players access to hundreds of cars and a gorgeous rendition of Mexico, but doesn’t include extra DLC content or expansions. This is the version that’s included in Xbox Game Pass, and is also available physically.
Forza Horizon 5 Deluxe Edition
Forza Horizon 5 Deluxe Edition is the middle child in the FH5 family, and as such includes the base game and exactly one other piece of DLC to justify the added cost. This is the edition for the car collectors.
The retail price is$79.99 at Best Buy, and this version doesn’t tend to go on sale as often or for as much off as the Standard or Premium Editions.

Forza Horizon 5 Deluxe Edition includes the base game and an additional 42 cars with the Forza Horizon 5 Car Pass. Eight Formula Drift Cars were made available at launch, with another car added every week afterward for 34 weeks.

The quintessential edition for Forza Horizon fans and lovers, Forza Horizon 5 Premium Edition ramps up the cost again but includes a compelling number of DLC additions and perks over previous editions.

Digital games have effectively taken over the video game industry, but there remains a large number of players who still prefer physical copies of all their games. Forza Horizon 5 is absolutely available as a physical disc, but players will be more limited in their options. Like the Standard Edition, it also retails for$59.99 at Best Buy, but is more likely to go on sale.

Why doesn’t the Premium Edition include all DLC?
Playground Games was very clear on what the Premium Edition (and Premium Add-Ons Bundle) of Forza Horizon 5 nets you. For just $40-45, you’re getting 42 cars via the Car Pass, two DLC expansions with new areas, campaigns, and 10 cars a piece, and the VIP Membership and Welcome Pack with exclusive cars and in-game benefits. That saves you a ton of money versus buying that DLC individually.
All DLC released beyond that isn’t included in the Premium Edition for one simple reason: Forza Horizon 5 is a live service game that is being constantly updated with new content and features. Cars are still being added to the game for free every month, but other cars will only be available through optional DLC Car Packs, which will help fund the game into the future.
On what platforms is Forza Horizon 5 available?
Forza Horizon 5 is a first-party Xbox Game Studios title, and as such is only available on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and Windows PC platforms. There is no PlayStation or Nintendo Switch version, and there likely never will be.
Is Forza Horizon 5 on Xbox Game Pass?
Yes, Forza Horizon 5 Standard Edition is included in Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, Xbox Game Pass, PC Game Pass, and Xbox Cloud Gaming. Subscribers get discounts on all game editions and DLC, too. Does Forza Horizon 5 support cross-play and cross-save?
Forza Horizon 5 does support full cross-platform multiplayer between all versions of the game. Cross-save support is also available between the Xbox and Microsoft Store PC versions via your Microsoft Account, but is not available for the Steam version.

Does Forza Horizon 5 have a demo or trial?
Previous Forza Horizon games have historically featured a demo that lets players experience a slice of the full game before purchasing, often with in-game rewards for doing so. However,Forza Horizon 5 does not feature a demo, and it’s not going to at any point in the future.
Playground Games' reasoning is that the constant influx of new information and gameplay for Forza Horizon 5 ahead of launch negated the need for a demo. FH5 is also available through Xbox Game Pass from day one on Xbox, PC, and the cloud. While this will inevitably disappoint players looking forward to playing a little bit of Forza Horizon 5 before buying (or players looking for those demo rewards), it just didn’t make sense for Playground to divert resources to build a demo this time around.
