Former corporate vice president of Microsoft’s developer division chief, S. “Soma” Somasegar, has been given the new role of managing director at venture capital firm, Madrona Venture Group.
“Madrona is in a unique position,” Somasegar toldTechCrunch. “We sit at the center of the cloud industry with Microsoft and Amazon at our front and back doors – and Google’s cloud team growing quickly. There is a tremendous amount of talent base here. The opportunity for entrepreneurs is immense and I’m looking forward to taking on a bigger role helping founders build and scale successful companies, which in turn will foster the vibrant and growing Pacific NW technology ecosystem.”
Somasegar joined Madrona as recently as 2015 when he came on board as venture partner after his stint at Microsoft where he worked on programs such as Visual Studio and .NET. Madrona Venture Group is known for its support of entrepreneurs in the tech industry. “One of the most valuable benefits we offer is a deep network to help founders grow their startups,” reads a statement on their official website. “We’re connected to global technology and consumer companies, world-class educational institutions, and a vibrant entrepreneur and engineering community.”

For most of the kids of his age, the Internet was an amazing way to play and communicate with others, but he was deeply impressed by the flow of information and how easily you can find anything on the web.
Prior to founding Windows Report, this particular curiosity about digital content enabled him to grow a number of sites that helped hundreds of millions reach faster the answer they’re looking for.
