Back in August, Epic Games revealed a new mode called Impostors for the free-to-play multiplayer juggernaut Fortnite. This mode bears extreme similarities to Innersloth’s Among Us, so much so thatInnersloth developers shared reactionson Twitter, even noting that the team would’ve been happy to engage in a collaboration with Epic Games.

“We didn’t patent the Among Us mechanics. I don’t think that leads to a healthy game industry,” wrote the co-founder of Innersloth. “Is it really that hard to put 10% more effort into putting your own spin on it though?”

Now, Epic Games is crediting Innersloth for the idea, noting that thelatest update"…brings improvements to Impostors, the game mode inspired by Among Us from Innersloth!" These improvements include the ability to set player preference for being an Impostor or an Agent, as well as an open voice chat playlist.

Given the nature of Fortnite, which sees crossover skins and events as a regular occurence, it doesn’t seem unlikely that we could now see an official crossover between Fortnite and Among Us at some point in the future, now that Epic Games is confirming where the game mode’s inspiration came from.

Among Us is awesome.

Among Us is a social deduction game where players aboard a spaceship are stuck with imposter mutants who want nothing more than to devour their brains. Keep your eyes peeled and try to deduce which players are the imposters, or die trying.
